The prescription or power of a person's eyes is measured in diopters (D). One diopter is 1/focal length of the eye measured in meters. The greater the number, the worse your vision is without glasses. The average age of a person who had Myopic Lasik (for nearsightedness) was 40.3 years old. These people had on average -4.2 Diopters (D) of nearsightedness with +1.17 D of astigmatism. The average age of a person who had Hyperopic Lasik (for farsightedness) was 53.7 years of age. These people had on average +2.59 (D) of farsightedness with +1.96 D of astigmatism.
